Paracelsus Medizinische Privatuniversitat - (PMU)
PMU is a leading institution in musculoskeletal research covering extended experience in the development of cell-based therapies. PMU represents excellence in stem cell research with a particular focus on cell-derived EVs as mediators of regeneration. PMU operates a GMP facility for cell and EV production and holds expertise in MRI-based imaging. The Department of Imaging-based and Functional Musculoskeletal Research at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology developed and validated image analysis methodologies for the quantitative evaluation of synovial joints, and their application to epidemiological and clinical studies.
The Cell Therapy Institute at the Paracelsus Medical University (PMU-ExCT) is developing broadly applicable platform technologies for human cell-based therapy including cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) and human platelet lysate (hPL). EV research at ExCT has a strong focus on developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Professor Dirk Strunk, is currently Head of the Cell Therapy Institute, Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) and Director of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility, Salzburg, Austria. Over the last 20 years Professor Strunk has specialised in and researched stem cell transplantation and cell therapy.

Anna-Wisser
Works as PhD at the Department for Imaging and Functional Musculoskeletal Research since 2018. The overarching goal of the research conducted at the Department is the integration of quantitative image analysis approaches to elucidate the functional adaptation of musculoskeletal tissues to joint function and mechanical loading, as well as the pathophysiological changes occurring with osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal diseases.
